Job description

Exciting opportunity for a contract Occupational Therapist to support students’ growth and independence in a collaborative school environment near Alvarado, TX! This full-time position offers a blend of in-person and remote work: spend three days a week supporting students onsite, and, depending on caseload, take advantage of remote flexibility two days a week. You'll join a dynamic therapy team including two full-time OTs and one COTA, all focused on providing excellent therapy services to students.

Begin your assignment no sooner than August 18, pending board approval on August 17. Work with students across elementary and secondary sites—elementary hours are 7:30 am–3:30 pm, and secondary hours 8 am–4 pm, but your contracted schedule offers ample flexibility. Wrap up onsite activities when tasks are complete and continue documentation or planning remotely as needed. Participation in ARD meetings may be required during campus hours, but scheduling remains adaptable, especially during the busy back-to-school season.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide occupational therapy to students within special education, across multiple school sites (approximately four).
  • Manage a caseload of students currently served with OT, totaling about 200 out of 1300 SPED students district-wide.
  • Collaborate closely with OTs, COTAs, educators, and families to support IEP goals.
  • Conduct assessments, intervention planning, and progress monitoring.
  • Participate in ARD meetings as required, providing professional recommendations.
  • Complete documentation, planning, and communication in a timely manner, whether onsite or remotely.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Current OT license in Texas.
  • Experience providing occupational therapy in K-12 or school-based settings.
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to manage caseloads efficiently and work autonomously.

Embrace a flexible, supportive environment designed for both professional growth and work-life balance. If you’re passionate about making a difference in students’ lives while enjoying adaptable scheduling, apply today to be considered for this rewarding contract position!
