Job description
Embark on a rewarding opportunity supporting students' success as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant at a district-wide level. This full-time contract role begins August 27, 2026, and covers an anticipated 12-week FMLA leave, with the possibility of extension. You'll work across all school locations and grade levels, from Pre-K through 12th, making a meaningful difference for a diverse range of learners.
In this valued position, you'll collaborate with an Occupational Therapist to deliver quality treatment plans and provide hands-on support to students. Daily responsibilities include implementing interventions, documenting progress, and contributing as a key member of the multidisciplinary educational team. This role offers approximately 7 to 7.5 hours of daily engagement, with the final schedule to be confirmed by the district.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) license in Connecticut (CT DPH) and NBCOT certification
- Previous school-based COTA experience preferred
- Prior work with students from preschool through high school a plus
- Experience supporting students with diverse disabilities
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Reliable transportation for travel between campuses
Primary Responsibilities:
- Carry out occupational therapy treatment plans under OT supervision
- Support student learning and functional independence within school settings
- Document interventions and student progress following school processes
- Cooperate with special education and general staff to address IEP goals
- Maintain ethical, professional, and confidential practices at all times
