Exciting opportunity for a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to support students in a vibrant elementary school environment! This contract role focuses on providing essential occupational therapy services, working directly with eligible students to enhance their functional skills and promote greater access and participation. You'll collaborate with dedicated special education staff and classroom teams, playing a crucial role in self-contained autism programs and student success.
Key Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant training program
- Valid Illinois COTA license or eligibility to obtain licensure
- Experience working with pediatrics or in school-based settings preferred
- Ability to implement and monitor therapy goals as outlined in students IEPs
- Strong communication skills for collaboration with classroom and special education teams
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality occupational therapy services to elementary students onsite, 34 days per week (2128 hours)
- Adapt therapy strategies to individual needs, promoting independence in daily school activities and routines
- Foster meaningful participation and skill development for students in self-contained autism programs
- Collaborate effectively with teachers, special education professionals, and families to support students IEP objectives
- Document services, progress, and outcomes in compliance with program and regulatory requirements
