Job description
Step into a rewarding role supporting young learners as an Occupational Therapist for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. This part-time, contract opportunity offers the chance to work with early childhood students in a vibrant educational setting near Arlington Heights, IL. With a flexible schedule of either two or three days per week (.4 or .6 FTE), you’ll play an integral role in promoting students’ development, independence, and participation in foundational activities.
As a valued team member, you will collaborate with educators, families, and other professionals within the Winnetka Preschool Consortium to deliver effective interventions designed to meet each child’s unique needs. Your expertise will help create accessible learning environments and facilitate positive outcomes for students with diverse abilities.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid certification from the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT)
- Experience in school-based occupational therapy, especially within early childhood and special education settings, is highly valued
- Ability and willingness to travel between sites within the preschool consortium as needed
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills
- Aptitude for working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Commitment to fostering inclusive, supportive learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess, plan, and implement occupational therapy interventions for early childhood students
- Develop individualized goals and treatment plans to address student needs
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, and specialists to integrate strategies and supports within the classroom setting
- Monitor progress and adjust interventions to optimize student success
- Participate in IEP meetings and provide timely, thorough documentation
