Job description

Embrace the rewarding opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of elementary and middle school students as an OT or COTA in a vibrant educational setting. This contract role, located just 25 minutes outside of Albuquerque, is a chance to work alongside a supportive team while providing essential therapy services to a diverse student population.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Valid licensure as an Occupational Therapist (OT) or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA)
  • Eligibility to obtain or already hold both NM RLD and NMPED licenses
  • Prior experience within school-based settings (elementary and/or middle school preferred)
  • Proficiency in therapeutic techniques tailored to student needs
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities for working with educators, families, and students
  • Adaptability and organizational skills to manage a caseload of approximately 40-50 students

Role Responsibilities:

  • Deliver occupational therapy interventions to support students’ participation, independence, and engagement in school activities
  • Collaborate with teachers and school staff to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
  • Assess students' skills and craft targeted treatment plans that address a range of developmental and functional areas
  • Keep accurate records of student progress and document treatment sessions in compliance with school and state requirements
  • Provide guidance and training to staff and families to facilitate students’ success across school environments
