Job description
Make a real difference serving students and families as a dedicated occupational therapy professional. This contract position offers the unique opportunity to provide individualized OT support in a home-based setting for children with multiple disabilities and complex needs near Kingston, NY.
You will deliver weekly occupational therapy sessions to two students:
- One student is diagnosed with developmental delays and Hypoxic-Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE), requiring three individual 30-minute sessions each week.
- The second student has global developmental delays related to cerebral palsy secondary to seizure disorders and infantile spasms. She is non-verbal, non-ambulatory, and needs significant day-to-day support; she will receive one weekly 45-minute OT session.
Qualifications & Preferred Experience:
- Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program
- Current state OT licensure (or eligibility to obtain before starting)
- Experience supporting students with multiple disabilities or complex medical needs
- Strong clinical skills in adaptive equipment, sensory integration, fine motor development, and activities of daily living
- Empathy, clear communication, and the ability to partner closely with families and caregivers
- School-based or pediatric therapy background preferred
Responsibilities:
- Assess student strengths and needs, and implement individualized therapy plans in the home
- Collaborate with caregivers, educators, and multidisciplinary teams to support student growth
- Document progress and adjust interventions to target functional goals
- Recommend adaptive tools and modifications for the home/learning environment
- Empower families with strategies and resources for daily activities
